Salesforce Turns Slackbot Into a Powerful AI Work Assistant

slackbot ai integration

Salesforce has rolled out a major upgrade to Slackbot, transforming it from a simple helper into an AI-powered work assistant that can take actions on behalf of users. The move signals Slack’s deeper push toward agentic AI, even as Salesforce steps back from LLMs over reliability concerns.

As ZDNET reports, the enhanced Slackbot can now draft emails, schedule meetings, organize information, and interact with multiple enterprise services using a single text prompt. Users no longer need to leave Slack to move work forward.

Slackbot becomes a personal AI agent for work

Slack rebuilt Slackbot as a context-aware AI agent that understands conversations, shared files, and ongoing projects inside Slack. That context allows the assistant to deliver more relevant responses and complete tasks directly within workflows.

The upgraded Slackbot also connects with Salesforce data, giving business users the ability to surface customer information, update records, and coordinate actions without switching tools.

Part of Slack’s broader agentic platform strategy

The new Slackbot fits into Slack’s wider strategy to embed AI agents directly into daily work. Beyond Slackbot, Slack now offers AI-powered enterprise search, automated conversation summaries, and deeper integrations with calendars and file systems.

All AI features run inside Slack’s own infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on keeping enterprise data secure and contained within the platform.

Rolling out to business customers

Salesforce has started rolling out the upgraded Slackbot today for Slack Business+ and Enterprise customers. The company positions the feature as a productivity boost for teams that want AI assistance without disrupting existing workflows.

For business users exploring alternative AI coworkers, Claude’s recently introduced Cowork capabilities may also appeal.

In other AI news, Proton has added Projects support to Lumo AI, aiming to improve chat organization and long-term task management.
