It seems that Shadowrun, the beloved game from Xbox 360, is working again with functional live servers. So if you’re up for a nostalgia trip, now is the time.

Apparently, Microsoft fixed the game’s servers over the weekend, after it fixed matchmaking for Xbox 360 on the old Call of Duty games. And now, they’re up and live again and you can play this game again.

Microsoft fixed old CoD games matchmaking last week, and apparently, the fixing caused the erasure of Shadowrun’s matchmaking servers. But a passionate community reached to Microsoft, and the Redmond-based tech giant restored and improved Shadowrun’s servers, users say.

A few days ago, Microsoft updated some 360 matchmaking services which fixed Call of Duty games on the platform, but actually ended up nuking the Shadowrun Matchmaking service. Well, a few people (myself included) reached out and Microsoft actually ended up fixing it! Now not only having it work again, but it actually kinda works better than it has ever worked in the history of the game being up. The game used to fake search for servers which would take a while before putting you into a match, well whatever they did eliminated that process fully and now Search > Match takes like 3 seconds where it used to be about 30+.

Shadowrun on Xbox 360 and PC

When it was first released, Shadowrun was available on Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. You can still play it now on your Xbox One and Xbox S/X. And even more, you can actually play the game on Windows 11, and it seems, it runs quite well on this operating system.shadowrun xbox 360

Thanks to Microsoft, the game is playable again. Many users believe Microsoft’s recent win against FTC has motivated the Redmond-based giant tech to focus on bringing back older games.

If you remember, the Halo franchise is getting a lot of love too. For example, Microsoft might be considering remaking the original Halo: Combat Evolved for the newer generations of Xbox. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

Until then, though, you can now indulge in nostalgia with Shadowrun. What’s your experience with this game? Let us know in the comments section below.
