Silent Hill: Townfall Gets New Trailer Showcasing First-Person Horror
Ahead of the Silent Hill Transmission stream, fans anticipated a new game announcement, and Konami did not disappoint. The company showcased a brand-new trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall during Sony’s latest State of Play event, offering the first proper look at gameplay since its 2022 reveal.
This is no surprise, especially because Silent Hill F won Horror Game Awards 2025, reinforcing Konami’s renewed momentum with the franchise.
According to the PlayStation Blog, Townfall aims to deliver a narrative-driven and atmospheric horror experience, staying true to the psychological roots of the series while introducing a new setting and characters.
A new town, new threats, and first-person horror
Townfall takes place in a completely new location within the Silent Hill universe. Players will encounter fresh enemies, story-driven puzzles, and themes centered around mystery, tragedy, and psychological tension.
Unlike many previous entries, the game unfolds entirely in a first-person perspective. The design enhances immersion, environmental interaction, and hands-on puzzle solving.
A central mechanic is the CRTV device, a modern reinterpretation of the franchise’s iconic radio. Instead of merely emitting static near enemies, the CRTV actively scans surroundings, detects hidden signals, uncovers narrative broadcasts, and helps locate threats.
Players can raise the device in real time during exploration, using retro-style video signals to reveal clues and progression paths.
Tense combat and stealth-focused survival
Combat in Townfall remains deliberately stressful and survival-oriented. Players gain access to melee and ranged weapons, but the game frequently encourages stealth, distraction, hiding, and escape over direct confrontation.
Enemies react dynamically to player behavior. They hunt using their senses, which makes noise management and tactical movement essential.
The first-person approach supports mechanics such as peeking around corners and interacting closely with the environment, intensifying encounters.
On PlayStation 5, DualSense features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers simulate nearby danger and environmental tension, adding another layer of immersion.
A narrative-heavy Silent Hill entry
Konami positions Silent Hill: Townfall as a sophisticated, story-focused installment. The game emphasizes atmosphere, intellectual puzzle design, and refined aesthetics while preserving the signature tone fans expect from the franchise. Wishlist options are now live on the PlayStation Store, with more details promised in future updates.
State of Play also delivered other major announcements, including confirmation that a God of War trilogy remake is in development and the reveal of a new John Wick game, highlighting a strong showcase for horror and action fans alike.
