Skype screen sharing is getting better with a new Zoom-In feature, which now makes it easier for all participants in a video call to read tiny text on the shared screen. The Skype team implemented different ways to zoom in at any time during meetings, and using Zoom-in won’t interrupt the call or notify other participants that the feature is being used.
To use the new Zoom-in feature when someone in a meeting shares his screen, Skype users on the desktop have the following options:
- Pressing CTRL (on Windows) or Command (on Mac) and scrolling with their mouse
- Using the touchpad to zoom in, no keyboard needed
- Using the on-screen controls at the bottom right corner of the screen
Skype has slowly but surely taken the back seat as Microsoft has been focusing on improving Microsoft Teams for enterprise users and consumers. Even though there’s a lot of overlap between Teams and Skype with features like custom backgrounds and Together Mode being available on both platforms, the latter isn’t going away and recently received a small design update on all platforms.
If you have a Windows 11 PC, be aware that Skype is no longer pre-installed and needs to be downloaded manually from the Microsoft Store or skype.com. Do you still use Skype to share your screen with others, or do you use other apps like Zoom or Google Meet for that? Let us know in the comments below.
