Slack AI

Slack just released its new AI tool, Slack AI, to the platform, and the tech company promises it will help users get work done, more efficiently and without wasting a lot of time. The AI tool is now available to all Enterprise customers as a paid add-on, and for now, it’s only available in English, although Slack says more languages will be added to it soon.

For now, Slack AI will offer capabilities similar to the existing AI tools on the market, such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot. According to Slack, these capabilities include:

  • Search answers that deliver personalized, intelligent responses to questions.
  • Channel recaps that generate key highlights from accessible channels.
  • Thread summaries that catch users up on long conversations in one click.

It’s worth mentioning that similar to Copilot and ChatGPT, users won’t need any training on how to use Slack AI, as the tool is intuitive and easy to learn, says the tech company.

These new native features are easy to use and require no training. They prioritize exactly what you need to know, when you need to know it. And they’re built on Slack’s secure, trusted infrastructure so that you remain in full control of your data.

Slack

The company says Slack AI can be used in a variety of scenarios, including those listed below. The tool is designed to greatly improve efficiency all around while communicating with other team members on Slack. Some of these situation are:

  • Learn about a new marketing campaign or project
  • Get up to speed on company policies, such as the deal approval process
  • Find internal subject-matter experts to resolve an engineering incident
  • Glean insights about past decisions from historical context
  • Define unfamiliar acronyms
  • Catch up after time away from work
  • Get up to speed on a new project
  • Stay informed on customers in sales account channels
  • Outline a root cause analysis from incident response channels
  • Extract themes from design feedback channels

In the following months, Slack AI will be updated to be able to generate key highlights, and will integrate other AI tools, such as the Einstein Copilot by Salesforce. No, it’s this is not Copilot for Sales, but another AI tool that can handle similar tasks.

With this being said, Slack also introduces AI integration, and users will be able to add a plethora of AI apps on Slack now, including PagerDuty, Notion, or Perplexity.

Is it a good time to be a Slack user, right? What do you think?
