Sony Launches Free Live TV on PS5 With 100+ Channels and On-Demand Content

PS5 players in the U.S. are getting a seriously big entertainment upgrade today. Sony has launched Live TV on PS5, bringing free ad-supported television directly to the console. The service offers more than 100 live channels at launch. It also includes a growing selection of on-demand entertainment.

Free TV lands directly inside PS5

Live TV on PS5 comes from Sony Pictures Television and requires no separate paid TV subscription. Players can find it through the Media section of their PS5.

Getting started is straightforward. You can open the Media tab, select the Live TV on PS5 icon, then sign in with your PlayStation account. The launch lineup covers several major entertainment categories. Players can jump between movies, television shows, anime, sports, news, weather, and creator-focused programming.

Movies include channels such as MovieSphere by Lionsgate and Sony One Horror Hits. FilmRise Free Movies and Cinevault are also available.

TV programming includes Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead and Forensic Files. Other channels feature Unsolved Mysteries, Fear Factor and Deal or No Deal USA.

Anime and sports make the lineup bigger

Anime fans get access to shows including Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter and Death Note. Crunchyroll also brings dedicated Black Clover and Box Sets channels.

Sports coverage includes FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now and UFC. The selection spans football, hockey, motorsports, golf, boxing, soccer and MMA.

News and weather options include NBC News Now, Fox Weather and LiveNOW from FOX. Creator programming adds shows and channels built around internet personalities and specialty interests.

Sony says the service will keep expanding with refreshed programming, additional channels and new content. For now, the rollout is limited to the U.S. Sony is also looking toward Canada and may expand further later.

In other Sony news, the company has confirmed the date for its September 2026 PlayStation State of Play, while the PS5 Pro has gone out of stock following the extended GTA 6 look. Sony has also started emailing PlayStation users to remind them that digital games are licensed rather than owned.
