starfield releases patch

Released on September 6, 2023, after several delays, Starfield gained tremendous popularity, but reports of game crashes were common. With Starfield’s biggest-to-date patch released, you can finally enjoy the game as it was initially intended!

The patch was earlier deployed in the Steam Beta version, and after testing, it is finally available to all players, both Xbox and PC. The patch notes remain the same as Beta except for two instances.

What should you look out for in the latest Starfield patch?

Fixes:

  • Fixed crashes occurring when changing from Fullscreen to Windowed mode.
  • Rectified the issue where Windows users couldn’t save usernames if they included certain special characters.
  • Fixed game save file corruption.
  • Fixed an issue where game saves wouldn’t resume after shutdown in Energy Save mode on Xbox.
  • Eliminated issues preventing access to the main menu and removed unintended text from the shipbuilder’s UI.

Graphics:

  • Better full-screen support (32:9, 21:9 & 16:10) on all devices.
  • Added the shadow visual effect to planet rings
  • Improved reflection on water
  • Better lighting
  • Fixes loading delays and flickers after resuming the game.

Other improvements:

  • No more missing terrain if you fast-travel to an outpost near New Atlantis.
  • Solar Flare Power counts as a critical hit
  • Fixed zoom issues with weapon scopes
  • Rectified an issue where weapon sound effects continue to play even after killing the enemy

Starfield attracted a significant number of users initially, and with the latest patch out, the figure could rise further.
