Microsoft recently released the April 2024 firmware update to fix multiple issues on the Intel-based Surface Laptop 4. The latest firmware update is available for the Surface Laptop 4 with Intel Processor running on Windows 10 November 2021 Update, Version 21H2, or greater.
The April 2024 firmware update fixes USB-C charging and display issues in the Surface Laptop 4
The latest release fixes bugs that affected the USB-C charging and display output of the Surface Laptop 4. It also improves the audio stability in the Surface Laptop 4 and addresses potential security vulnerabilities.
The Redmond giant recently updated the Surface Laptop 4 update history page with all the improvements, which reads:
Improvements and fixes:
- Addresses the issue that prevents charging when system is connected via USB-C and goes into hibernation.
- Resolves scenario that lead to display issues when the device is connected to Surface Dock 2.
- Addresses potential security vulnerability and improves system stability.
- Improves audio stability and reliability.
Besides fixing multiple issues in Surface Laptop 4, the latest update also brings new drivers for the device. You can check them out below.

Let’s not forget that both Intel and AMD-based Surface Laptop 4 will continue to receive driver and firmware updates for at least six years. This means that Microsoft will end support for the device on April 2027 given its April 2021 launch.
