Microsoft released a new driver for its Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book devices. The update should bring some new drivers to both devices, and improve the overall performance.

Here’s what the latest update brings for both Surface Book and Surface Pro 4:

Surface Pro 4:

  • “Microsoft driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Management Engine
  • Fingerprint Cards AB driver update for Surface Fingerprint Sensor
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Precise Touch Device”

Surface Book:

  • “Microsoft driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Management Engine
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter
  • Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Precise Touch Device”

If you want to find more details about both updates, check out Microsoft’s Update History page, where details about all previously released updates are listed – Surface Book Update History, Surface Pro 4 Update History.

Microsoft is indeed focused on making Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book better computers, as this is the third update for these devices in just a few weeks. The first May’s update for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 brought some important camera tweaks to Windows 10 on these devices. The second update, which was released about a week ago, was only for Surface Book, and it improved graphic card drivers of it.

The update should’ve already arrived to your Surface Book or Surface Pro 4, so you probably don’t have to do anything to install it. However, if you’re not sure you received the update, you can go to Settings > Updates & security, and check for updates.

If you noticed some issues on your Surface Pro 4 or Surface Pro Book upon installing the update, please tell us in the comments.
