Surface Pro X and Surface Studio 2 latest update includes new firmware, and stability fixes

Microsoft released updates for Surface Pro X Wi-Fi and the second-generation Surface Studio, which include new firmware, improvements and fixes to the known issues.

Surface Pro X

Here are the changes introduced in the April 2024 firmware update for Surface Pro X:

  • Addresses potential security vulnerabilities and improves system stability.
  • Extends device security certificate authority.

This update is for Surface Pro X Wi-Fi. To download it, you must have Windows 11 version 22H2 and newer on your device. You can install the update using the Windows Update feature. The update doesn’t include extra steps before or after installation and doesn’t have any known issues.

Surface Pro X Wi-Fi will get firmware updates for three more years as Microsoft plans to end its support on October 5, 2027.

Surface Studio 2

The update is available for Surface Studio 2 devices that have Windows 10 November 2021 Update, version 21H2 or higher and Windows 11 version 21H2 & newer.

To get the update, you need to install it manually. It is 629.1 MB in size. As of now, no known issues are included in this update.

This update addresses a potential security vulnerability related to Intel Security Advisories INTEL-SA-00923

As for the end of life support, Surface Studio 2 is approaching it, and the official documentation says it will no longer be supported by October 2, 2024.
