Take-Two Defends GTA 6 Price & Calls It 'Phenomenal Value' for Players

Ever since Take-Two confirmed that GTA 6 would cost $79.99, the price has been a big talking point. Plenty of fans aren’t exactly thrilled about it. Now, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has jumped in to explain why the company thinks the price is justified.

Take-Two says GTA 6 will be worth the $79.99

Speaking during Take-Two’s latest earnings call, Zelnick didn’t really back away from the $79.99 price. Instead, he argued that Rockstar is known for giving players more than they pay for.

“Our goal is to deliver way more value to consumers than what we charge them,” Zelnick said. He also pointed out that game prices haven’t really kept up with inflation over the last 20 years. According to Zelnick, the actual cost of a major AAA game is much lower today when adjusted against inflation.

That is obviously one way of looking at it. The other side is that $79.99 is still a lot of money for a single game. Zelnick went even further while discussing Rockstar’s approach to GTA 6. He said calling the game an “incredible bargain” was actually a “gross understatement.”

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two is also expecting the game to make a major contribution to its financial results. Let’s not forget that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reportedly revealed that GTA 6’s promotional campaign isn’t limited to Netflix. According to him, Rockstar is working with “virtually every social media outlet on Earth” as part of its broader marketing strategy.
