The Coalition Details Gears of War: E-Day Beta Issues for Xbox Series X|S & PC Players

Ahead of the early access open beta, The Coalition has published a detailed list of known issues for Gears of War: E-Day affecting both PC and Xbox Series X|S players. The studio says stability, performance, and several gameplay systems are still actively being improved throughout the beta.

PC players should update drivers before launching

First if all, NVIDIA players must install GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.74 or newer before launching the beta. Older NVIDIA drivers won’t launch the game at all. Meanwhile, AMD users need driver version 26.6.4 or later. Intel graphics users should be running 101.8864 or newer. The developers say older driver versions aren’t supported during the beta.

The Coalition also warns that outdated OBS versions can crash the game while recording. Players should update to OBS version 29.0.0 or newer before capturing gameplay. Intel Arc graphics owners may notice shaders recompiling every time the game launches. Systems with Arc A580 and B580 graphics cards may also experience poor performance if Resizable BAR is disabled inside the BIOS.

Other PC issues include temporary 150 FPS frame rate cap, disabled frame generation, Steam account linking problems, occasional display scaling bugs, and launch issues caused by Comodo Antivirus. Players using different Microsoft Store and Xbox App accounts may also be unable to play online.

Xbox players may also encounter performance issues

Xbox players aren’t completely unaffected either. According to The Coalition, some Xbox Series S users may experience hitching during extended Horde Siege sessions while using Quality Mode.
The current workaround is fairly simple. Players should completely close the game and restart it to restore normal performance before continuing.

That being said, the studio reminds players that the Open Beta is still unfinished software. Matchmaking delays, crashes, accessibility bugs, visual glitches, cover issues, and occasional out-of-bounds problems may all appear while developers continue testing servers ahead of the full launch.
