The Grammarly Extension for Chrome was unusable last Friday due to a bug that causes the sites it’s used to refresh or bounce constantly. We noticed it as well, and after several hours of troubleshooting, we initially thought screen bugs caused the issue, but then we discovered the Grammarly Extension installed on the browser.
When enabled, the screen constantly refreshes or bounces, making editing the site impossible. The issue was widespread. On Reddit, for example, users reported it.
Nothing, aside from disabling the extension altogether, fixed it. After updating Chrome, the extension didn’t work at all.
However, there is one thing you can do: switch to Edge, for now, or any other browser of your choice. The issue seems only to affect the Grammarly Extension for Chrome. However, in our tests, Edge and Opera were safe.
Grammarly, through its Support community, acknowledged the issue and released an update over the weekend that effectively fixed it. The plugin should now automatically update itself when opening Google Chrome.
Hey! Sorry for the trouble. It should be all good now—just make sure you’re on the latest version of the Grammarly browser extension. Let us know if you’re still having issues!
But if you’re unsure about it, you can go to the Extensions page in Chrome and update the plugin manually.
