The Facilitator agent will be coming to Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot, and Microsoft Teams, and will take notes for users during meetings. This means everyone can work together on the notes without worrying about writing them down, allowing them to focus more on the meeting.
This unique feature, announced in a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, is designed to help during meetings by automatically taking notes in real-time, so participants don’t need to worry about jotting things down.
The notes are created as the meeting happens. They are updated every few minutes, capturing the key points and discussions in real time.
According to the description in the entry, when scheduling a meeting in the Teams calendar, there’s an option to toggle the ‘AI-generated notes’ setting. Turning this on will activate the note-taking feature for that meeting. If you didn’t turn it on before the meeting, you can still enable it by clicking the Notes button in the Teams toolbar. This will start the real-time note-taking.
You can see the real-time notes during the meeting by clicking the Notes button in the Teams toolbar. This will open a notes pane to watch the notes being created live. The notes are organized by topics, making it easy to see what was discussed under each subject.
Follow-up tasks or action items discussed during the meeting are also noted, helping ensure that essential tasks are tracked and completed.
Here’s what Microsoft has to say about it:
The Facilitator agent in Microsoft 365 takes real-time notes during your meetings, allowing everyone to co-author and collaborate seamlessly. This frees everyone up to focus and engage deeply in meetings. To enable real-time notes in meetings, users can toggle the ‘AI-generated notes’ setting on when scheduling the meeting in the Teams calendar or toggle it on during the meeting through the Notes button in the toolbar. To access the real-time notes, select Notes in the toolbar to open the notes pane where everyone can see live notes being generated every few minutes as the conversation happens. The notes are organized by topics and follow-up tasks.
The Facilitator agent will be added to the Microsoft 365 platform in March, and it’s part of the AI agents that the Redmond-based tech giant plans to add to its services moving forward. These agents will be built to complete tasks like summarizing meetings or creating images.
