Xbox Series S Ellewood

2024 will be the year Microsoft releases new versions of its popular current-gen consoles, Xbox Series S and X. These new versions are codenamed Ellewood, for Series S, and Brooklin for Series X, and the Redmond-based tech giant is expected to announce them in the summer, most probably June/July, with a potential release date for September/October.

The roadmap for the Xbox has been known for several months now, as back in 2023, FTC mistakenly uploaded dozens of confidential documents revealing the new prototypes for the Xbox Series consoles.

While several months have passed, we don’t know for sure if Microsoft has changed the plans. There is a chance these new versions won’t be released the way they were described in the documents, back in 2023.

For example, we all know that 2024 will be the year of AI for Microsoft, as the Redmond-based tech giant is getting ready to launch the new Copilot key this spring. What if the new Xbox consoles might also integrate some AI features? It’s a thought, yes, but it could be possible.

Either way, below you’ll see all the new specs coming with the Series S Ellewood.

All these additions will make the new Series S console similar to the current Series X, in terms of performance. While the design will stay the same, Microsoft will debut Ellewood with a white carcass made from recyclable material.

The new version will come with 1TB of storage, more than enough for casual gamers, and it also boosts stronger connections, as well, with the new Xbox Wireless 2.0, Bluetooth 5.1 (the current standard), and the Wi-Fi 6E, and it makes sense since this console has always been entirely digital.

The stronger connections will also mitigate lags and users will be able to download games faster, and play them without worrying about latency. It will effectively bring it closer to performance in Series X while having a lower price than it.

Bluetooth 5.1 is also an awesome addition, as users will now be able to connect their desired headphones and other controllers to the console, while the USB-C to A will allow for faster transfer speeds and a wider array of displays to connect it to.Xbox Series S Ellewood

Ellewood will reportedly be released with a new controller, the Xbox Sibile controller, which will have lift-to-wake capabilities, Xbox Wireless 2.0 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and special features, such as connecting itself to the Xbox app. It will also have replaceable buttons, and a replaceable battery, so Microsoft puts all the bets on longevity.

And speaking of longevity, Xbox Series S Ellewood should last longer, as the console will be 20% more efficient during standby mode.
