Resident Evil 2 GOG

In a nostalgic nod to gaming history, Capcom and GOG have teamed up to bring back the classic Resident Evil games to PC, starting with the iconic 1996 Resident Evil. Now, they’re gearing up to re-release Resident Evil 2, the 1999 PC port, not to be confused with the 2019 remake.

The original Resident Evil 2 is set to hit the GOG store on August 27 at 8 A.M. UTC, promising a slew of enhancements to ensure it runs smoothly on modern systems. What’s exciting is that this version is not just a mere port. It includes full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11, supports multiple languages, and offers improved DirectX game rendering, among other features.

Do those around the gaming block remember the thrill of navigating through the zombie-infested Raccoon City? Well, it’s about to get better. The GOG version boasts new rendering options like Windowed Mode and Vertical Synchronization Control, enhanced audio, and improved cutscenes and subtitles. Saving your progress and exiting the game is now hassle-free, and the game settings have been fine-tuned for an optimal experience.

But here’s the kicker: modern controller support. Yes, you read that right. Whether you’re team Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, or Logitech, the game has covered you with optimal button binding for a seamless gaming experience. And for the hardcore fans, the 4th Survivor and Tofu modes are unlocked from the get-go.

Unfortunately, GOG hasn’t said anything about the price yet, but it’s likely to mirror the first game’s re-release at $9.99. There’s also a bundle option for the classic trilogy, which includes the upcoming Resident Evil 3, priced at $24.99.

If you’re a fan of survival horror or just looking to relive some of those heart-pounding moments from your youth, keep your eyes peeled for Resident Evil 2’s return to the GOG store.

It’s a trip down memory lane that promises nostalgia and a smoother, more accessible experience for old fans and newcomers alike.

And speaking about memory lane, don’t forget about Age of Mythology: Retold, which will also be released early for those with Early Access. The end of August seems a good time to be a PC gamer.
