Windows 11 is set to end in 2025 as the sole Windows version still actively supported by Microsoft, and so, of course, Windows 10 users are starting to migrate to it (and those who haven’t already will eventually have to).
As such, the AI-powered operating system is being tested on various devices—especially old ones. Recently, we covered a story about someone successfully installing Windows 11 on a decade-old laptop. We found another experiment on Reddit: Windows 11 displayed on a 21-year-old monitor.
The Reddit user plugged in a Dell M783s 17” from August 2004 and rendered Windows 11. Believe it or not, the monitor can easily display the operating system, although at a much smaller resolution than usual.
According to the user, they got a Legion Go with a preinstalled Windows 11 and decided to connect the 21-year-old monitor for an experiment. It worked, but to use their words is both wrong and right.
Meanwhile, in the comments, some Windows 11 tried the trick, and it worked. The operating system is rendered quite fittingly on old monitors, so it might be worth trying if you have one at home.
However, practically, it’s a bad idea. These old monitors take up a lot of space, and the resolution is not great if you want to use them for gaming, content creation, or even watching films. But surely, they are fine for some writing.
What do you think about this?
