Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Gets PS5 Release Date, It's Coming in February 2027
Lara Croft is officially heading back to where it all started. During PlayStation’s latest State of Play showcase, Crystal Dynamics unveiled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a full reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider. If you are wondering about the release date, it’s coming on PS5 on February 12, 2027.
The announcement finally gives Tomb Raider fans something they’ve been waiting years to see. Rather than creating a brand-new chapter, Crystal Dynamics is revisiting Lara’s first adventure and rebuilding it from the ground up with modern technology, expanded locations, and fresh gameplay systems.
Lara’s first adventure gets a massive modern upgrade
Built using Unreal Engine 5 and co-developed with Flying Wild Hog, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis takes players back to iconic locations including Peru’s Lost Valley and the ancient ruins of Greece. However, the studio emphasizes that it isn’t a simple visual remake.
That’s because environments have been significantly expanded compared to the original game. Areas that were once isolated rooms are now larger, interconnected spaces filled with secrets, collectibles, hidden resources, and alternative routes for exploration.
That’s not all; some of the most recognizable puzzles from the original release are returning with major redesigns. The studio specifically highlighted the classic cog puzzle, which has reportedly been rebuilt to feel more natural within the game’s world.

More than just a nostalgia play
While the project stays rooted in the original Tomb Raider experience, the developers appear to be aiming for much more than nostalgia. Combat, traversal, exploration, and puzzle-solving have all been modernized. Whereas the overall adventure remains focused on the journey that introduced Lara Croft to gaming audiences nearly three decades ago.
Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be available in a Standard Edition priced at $59.99 and a Deluxe Edition for $69.99. Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will receive 48-hour early access, a Parisian Fugitive outfit, and a post-launch story expansion.
Let’s not forget that Rayman Legends Retold and Until Dawn 2 were also revealed at yesterday’s State of Play showcase. Whereas Marvel’s Wolverine gets brutal new gameplay reveal and PS5 release date. Moreover, God of War Laufey was also revealed yesterday with Faye as the lead.
