A compatibility program, Deck Verified, maintained by Valve and moderated by the community, was launched in October 2021 to showcase the best games under the two compatibility categories, Verified and Playable, on Steam Deck.
According to the latest figures on SteamDB, Valve was able to review Steam Deck compatibility of over 14000 games, including 9,416 Playable and 4,607 Verified games.
In less than 29 months, the company has tested up to 17,947 games, of which 14,023 are deemed playable or verified. The rest, 3,924 games tested, were declared unsupported.
The speed of testing is commendable, but given the huge number of Windows titles on Steam, which will continue to grow, as of now, the number is more than 146,548, and there is a long way to go.
The list can help a lot of gamers decide whether to invest in Steam Deck or not. However, reports claiming Remnant 2’s poor performance indicate that the system that tests compatibility is not perfect. Also, the list of unsupported games is inaccurate, as some of the games listed in the category can work on Steam Deck with minor changes.
With all things considered, we think that Deck Verified can be refined and become more accurate, and the increased number of games added to the compatibility list is proof of it.
