If you have been excited about Windows 11 24H2 and are eagerly awaiting an opportunity to install and try it out, we have good news. Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 24H2 in the Release Preview channel months before the release in the stable channel later this year!

Given the fact that the Release Preview channel is comparatively more stable than Canary, Dev, and Beta, with refined versions and patches being released here, the likelihood of encountering any critical errors is bleak!

But we still recommend you create a backup. This way, you could prevent data loss in case things go south while installing Windows 11 24H2.

How can I install Windows 11 24H2?

You have two options, either install Windows 11 24H2 via Windows Update or use the dedicated ISO file. Here are the steps for both:

  • Via Windows Update: Open Windows Update settings > click on Windows Insider Program > click Get started > link a Microsoft account > choose Release Preview > click Continue > restart the PC > go to Windows Update settings > enable the toggle for Get the latest updates as soon as they are available > click on Check for updates > download Windows 11 24H2 when it appears.
  • Via ISO file: Go to Microsoft’s official website > download the ISO for Build 26100.712 > right-click the ISO file > choose Mount > run the setup.exe file > follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If the Windows 11 24H2 update is not listed immediately, wait for a few days. These are often gradual rollouts, meaning everyone gets the update at a different time. But it will be there sooner or later!

Changes you will notice in Windows 11 24H2

The latest Windows 11 version brings a wide array of improvements to the OS, including HDR background support, the ability to create 7-zip and TAR files, voice clarity, Sudo for Windows, and much more.

Also, the update makes a major change to Copilot. Besides being more advanced and user-friendly, Windows Copilot will now be pinned to the taskbar, providing users with an app-like experience. This means, you can finally resize and reposition Copilot in Windows 11!

In addition to that, Microsoft has deprecated WordPad, Cortana, and Tips in Windows 11 24H2. so the apps won’t be available anymore.

There’s also some bad news. The much-anticipated and recently announced Recall feature, along with other AI-powered enhancements, won’t be available after installing Windows 11 24H2 as these require a Copilot+ PC, a new lineup powered by Arm-based processors.

As you see, it’s not that tricky to install Windows 11 24H2. On the contrary, it’s straightforward and doesn’t add more than a minute to the entire process. So, get the latest Windows version, and benefit from all the new features!
