Windows 11 26H1 Beta Build Introduces New Screen Tint Accessibility Feature
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.2298 for users in the Beta Channel on the 26H1 branch. The update is relatively small and focuses on accessibility improvements, quality enhancements, and minor bug fixes.
Screen Tint Comes to Windows 11
The highlight of the release is a new accessibility feature called Screen tint, which adds a color overlay to reduce screen intensity and eye strain.
Users can choose from six preset colors or create a custom tint, and a strength slider allows adjustment of the effect.
Unlike Night light, which reduces blue light, Screen tint is designed to make displays more comfortable during general use. Both features can be enabled together.
However, Screen tint cannot be used alongside Color filters. Enabling one automatically disables the other.
Task Scheduler Improvement Included
The update also contains a small productivity improvement for Task Scheduler.
Microsoft has modified Task Scheduler so that custom column width adjustments in the task list view are now remembered between sessions. Previously, users could lose their preferred column sizing after closing and reopening the application.
In addition to these changes, Microsoft says Build 28020.2298 includes several minor fixes and reliability improvements throughout the operating system.
Microsoft Released Two Additional Insider Builds
Build 28020.2298 was not the only Insider release this week. Microsoft also released Build 26220.8680 with File Explorer, Magnifier, and accessibility improvements, alongside Build 26300.8687, which adds a unified Windows Update experience and enhancements to File Explorer and Windows Search.
These releases continue Microsoft’s recent focus on accessibility, search improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements across Windows 11 Insider channels.
