Microsoft Store Win32

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 preview build (27758) to users in the Windows Insider Program’s Canary Channel. This build introduces several fixes for various issues, though several are still known. It also enhances Microsoft Store to allow users to update Win32 apps.

The new build fixes a bug in File Explorer that could cause the search box to draw off the window’s right edge. It also fixes a bug that might cause the app icons in the taskbar to crash explorer.exe when right-clicked. The update also addresses an issue that could cause the mouse cursor to become invisible when hovering over text fields in certain apps.

Microsoft has also announced that the Microsoft Store has added support for updating certain Win32 apps within the store, meaning that you won’t have to download and install new versions of these apps manually. The feature is now available to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel and should arrive for Dev Channel and Beta Channel users.

Another fix is for a problem that could cause the desktop background to not display correctly with multiple monitors, showing significant black areas. In addition, Microsoft is beginning to roll out a fix for an issue that could cause the Task Manager to display incorrectly after being resized. These are just a few of the fixes in today’s build. You can find the complete list in Microsoft’s blog post.

As for known issues, Microsoft says that users of certain Copilot+ PCs will lose their Windows Hello PIN and biometrics after switching from the Dev Channel to the Canary Channel. Microsoft recommends that those affected set up a new PIN by navigating to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello PIN and selecting “Set up my PIN.” Additionally, there’s a problem causing some insiders to experience rollbacks when attempting to install the latest Canary builds, for which Microsoft is working on fixing.

As always, today’s build includes many other general improvements and fixes, so be sure to check out Microsoft’s blog post for the full rundown.

In other news, Recall was recently made available to Windows 11, but it seems that it doesn’t entirely work, and that’s because Microsoft released a buggy Insider build.
