Windows 11 Experimental Future Platforms Build Fixes Green Screen Crashes

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental Future Platforms Preview Build 29610.1000 for users in the Canary 29600 Series Channel. The new preview build introduces several fixes and quality improvements, while also reflecting Microsoft’s updated naming conventions for Windows Insider channels.

The company noted that some users currently enrolled in the Canary 29600 Series Channel may not immediately see themselves moved to the new Experimental Future Platforms designation. Microsoft said the transition is being rolled out gradually across Insider devices.

Security-Related Green Screen Crash Resolved

One of the most notable fixes in Build 29610.1000 addresses a bug that affected some Insiders in the previous flight. The issue caused repeated bugchecks that resulted in a green screen displaying the KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE error.

Microsoft says the underlying problem has now been resolved, reducing the likelihood of unexpected system crashes for affected users.

Better Storage Performance for Large Volumes

The update also delivers a performance improvement related to storage management.

According to Microsoft, users should notice faster performance when viewing storage information on large volumes through Settings > System > Storage > Advanced Storage Settings > Disks & Volumes.

Windows Security Notification Issue Resolved

Microsoft fixed an issue that incorrectly informed some Insiders that Microsoft Defender was disabled.

The bug generated false Windows Security notifications even when Defender was active and functioning normally. With Build 29610.1000, those inaccurate warnings should no longer appear.

Quick Settings Energy Saver Duplication Fixed

Some users reported seeing two separate Energy Saver entries in the Quick Settings panel. Microsoft has corrected the issue, ensuring only a single Energy Saver toggle appears as intended.

Alongside Experimental Future Platforms Build 29610.1000, Microsoft also released new Experimental and Beta preview builds for Windows 11 version 26H1.

The additional releases continue Microsoft’s testing efforts for upcoming Windows 11 features, fixes, and platform improvements before they reach broader Insider audiences and eventually stable releases.
