Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental 26H1 Preview Build 28120.2302 for users enrolled in the Experimental channel. The update does not introduce major new features, but it focuses on performance improvements across several core areas of the operating system.

Faster Performance Across Windows

The highlight of Build 28120.2302 is a general performance upgrade designed to make Windows feel more responsive during everyday use.

Microsoft says the build accelerates app launches while also improving the performance of several core shell components. Although Microsoft has not provided technical details, the changes appear to align with the company’s recently introduced Low Latency Profile initiative, which aims to reduce delays throughout the Windows experience.

Users may notice quicker interactions when opening applications, searching for files and settings, navigating the Start menu, and accessing notifications through Action Center.

Task Scheduler Gets a Small Quality-of-Life Improvement

Build 28120.2302 also includes a small usability enhancement for Task Scheduler.

The utility now remembers column width adjustments made in the task list view. Previously, users often had to resize columns again after reopening the application. With this update, Task Scheduler preserves those preferences across sessions.

While minor, the change improves the experience for IT professionals, administrators, and power users who regularly work with scheduled tasks.

Additional Insider Builds Released This Week

Build 28120.2302 is one of several Insider Preview releases Microsoft has published recently.

The company also released Windows 11 Insider Beta 26H1 Preview Build 28020.2298, Experimental Preview Build 26300.8687, and Beta Preview Build 26220.8680.

Together, these releases continue Microsoft’s testing of upcoming Windows 11 improvements across both the Experimental and Beta channels.

While Build 28120.2302 is a relatively small release, its focus on responsiveness and everyday performance could have a noticeable impact on the overall Windows 11 experience for Insider testers.
