If you’re an insider running the Windows 11 Build 26120.3000 or higher in the Dev Channel or Build 4805 or higher in the Beta Channel, or we’ve got great news for you. According to a new Microsoft blog announcement, you can now connect your Android and iPhone right from the Start menu.
The software giant previewed this feature for Android devices last year, but if you wanted to pair your iPhone with Windows 11, you could only use Phone Link.
Well, insiders will be able to select between the Android and iPhone pairing straight from the Start menu in Windows 11:
Connected iPhone users can now access their phone features directly from the Start menu. This seamless integration allows iPhone users to enjoy the same benefits as Android users, including ability to view phone’s battery status and connectivity, ability to access messages and calls, and keeping track of the latest activities, all conveniently integrated into the Start menu. But that’s not all, now you also have to send files between your Android or iPhone smartphone and Windows 11 right from the dedicated menu after pairing.
You just need to click the Send files button from the Start menu. The Windows 11 insiders in the Dev and Beta channels can manage this feature by accessing Settings > Personalization > Start.
However, you also need to install Phone Link version 1.24121.30.0 or higher and log into your PC with a Microsoft account to use this feature. Bluetooth LE is also a must.
Microsoft says that the update will roll out gradually so if you don’t see it right now, give it a few days. If you see the pairing window but you care less about it, you can just hit the Hide this pane option and it will go away.
This is certainly an important feature for iPhone owners because it makes it a lot easier to check your messages, the calls and send files to your PC.
