Windows 11 Insider Beta (26H1) Build Brings General Improvements
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Beta 26H1 Build 28020.3172, although this update is far lighter on changes than the company’s latest Experimental releases.
The new Beta build focuses on general improvements and fixes rather than introducing major features or visible changes.

The release comes shortly after Windows 11 Insider Experimental 26H1 build gets new Search and Narrator upgrades, which brought considerably more noticeable changes.
Microsoft says Windows 11 Insider Beta 26H1 Build 28020.3172 includes a small set of general improvements and fixes aimed at improving the overall experience for Windows Insiders.
However, Microsoft has not detailed any specific new features or individual fixes included with the update.
That makes this release considerably less feature-rich than some of the Experimental builds Microsoft is testing alongside it.
One of those releases, the Windows 11 Insider Experimental build, introduced a redesigned Windows Search experience built on WinUI 3. Search can also perform actions directly from results, including changing system settings.
Microsoft is testing changes elsewhere in the Insider Program as well. The company recently released a Windows 11 Insider Beta build that puts Weather first on the lock screen, which makes Weather the primary lock screen widget and gives users more control over the widgets displayed there.
Meanwhile, Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) build addresses symbols that disappeared in the previous Future Platforms flight.
For users running the 26H1 Beta branch, Build 28020.3172 is therefore mainly a maintenance update rather than a release packed with new functionality.
