Windows 11 Insider Preview Build Adds Voice Isolation to Experimental Channel

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 29634.1000 is now available in the Experimental (Future Platforms) channel. The update introduces Voice Isolation for Voice Access, expanded braille display support, and several interface improvements.

Microsoft renews the Windows Insider flight certificate

Build 29634 includes a renewed Windows Insider flight certificate. The current certificate expires on August 11, 2026.

Microsoft recommends installing a preview build with the renewed certificate before that date. Devices that remain on an older certificate may stop receiving future Insider builds.

Microsoft has also completed the transition of all Windows Insider builds to the updated channel interface. Devices running 29600-series builds will now display Experimental (Future Platforms) under Windows Insider settings.

Voice Access adds Voice Isolation

Voice Access can now use Voice Isolation to focus on the user’s speech while filtering nearby speakers and background sounds. Windows performs all voice processing locally, and voice data remains on the device.

Voice Access now offers three speech-recognition modes:

• Voice Isolation filters background noise and other speakers. It requires a one-time setup in which the user reads a short paragraph aloud.
• Remove background noise only blocks sounds such as keyboard typing or doors closing without requiring voice setup.
• No filtering uses the microphone’s standard input without additional processing.

Microsoft previously introduced this feature in Release Preview Builds 26100.8942 and 26200.8942.

Narrator expands HID braille display support

Narrator now supports refreshable braille displays that follow the HID industry standard. Compatible USB devices can work without additional drivers or setup.

Users can pair Bluetooth HID braille displays through Settings > Bluetooth & devices. Supported models include the Orbit Reader 20, Orbit Slate 340, Freedom Scientific Focus 40, and APH Mantis Q40.

HID braille displays can also work over USB during the initial Windows setup process. Braille input and output options appear under Settings > Accessibility > Narrator > Braille.

The same functionality is already available in Beta Preview Build 26220.8925.

Account Control and emoji panel receive updates

The Windows 11 Account Control flyout now features a refreshed design. A clearer subscription badge helps users identify their current plan, while the interface highlights available benefits and upgrade options.

Microsoft also included this design in Windows 11 26H1 Insider Release Preview Build 28000.2597.

The emoji panel now uses GIPHY as its GIF provider following the deprecation of the Tenor API. Users can still open the panel by pressing Windows key + period, as before.

Microsoft improves Settings, Start, and the taskbar

Build 29634 improves navigation reliability when opening the Startup apps page in Settings. Microsoft has also improved system tray loading when a PC uses tablet posture.

The Start menu now retains view preferences more reliably and offers better keyboard navigation when focus moves to the apps list.

Windows should also detect situations that require time-zone change notifications more accurately. Microsoft has improved content rendering while scrolling in certain apps that span multiple monitors.
