Windows 11 introduces new Settings menu dialog boxes that fit the theme of the operating system

This week, Microsoft released the new Build 26217 to the Canary Insider channel, and initially, the patch was only documented to fix Windows issues, with no new features or enhancements. However, give it a few days for Windows enthusiasts to dissect the new builds, and you have new features.

Such was the case with this build, as well. After initially discovering a new AI components page within Windows 11’s Settings, enthusiast @PhantomOfEarth found out Build 26217 also features brand new Setting menu dialog boxes that finally match the overall theme of the operating system.

Here’s what these dialog boxes currently look like.

As you can see, the new Settings menu dialog boxes keep in touch with Windows 11’s overall theme. They will take the operating system’s theme, so if you have enabled the dark theme, these boxes will also sport it.

The current boxes feel as if you’re still in Windows 10 but with Windows 11 text fonts. In these new boxes, the text remains the same, but it feels more grounded in Windows 11 than ever before.

For those enlisted in the Windows Insider Program, you can enable the new Windows 11 Settings menu dialog boxes by using special commands in the third-party app, ViveTool. Thanks to the Windows enthusiast, @PhantomOfEarth, here are the commands:

vivetool /enable /id:38228963

You can also enable the new dialog menu box for the Change date/time setting in Windows 11, with the following command:

vivetool /enable /id:39811196

The new changes were eventually added in the official changelog, which means Microsoft meant to release them, as well. However, for now, they’re only available in the Windows Insider Program, so if you’re not enlisted in the Insider Program, you won’t be able to experience them.

They will be live with the next Windows 11 2024 Update, scheduled to be released to the general users later this year.
