Windows 11 Steam

Microsoft’s Windows 11 is rapidly becoming the operating system of choice for gamers, according to Valve’s latest Steam Hardware and Software survey for March 2025.

The survey reveals that Windows 11 now holds a commanding 55.34% share among Windows users on Steam, marking an 11.24-point increase from the previous month.

This surge has propelled Windows 11 back into the top spot, overtaking Windows 10, which now accounts for 40.58% of the market—a decline of 12.76 points.

The growing popularity of Windows 11 among gamers is attributed to its advanced gaming features, such as Auto HDR and DirectStorage, which enhance performance and provide a more immersive gaming experience. These features have made Windows 11 an attractive option for gamers looking to optimize their setups.

Despite the decline in Windows 10’s market share, the operating system remains significant on Steam. With support for Windows 10 set to end in October 2025, its continued popularity highlights the reluctance of some users to upgrade, even as newer technologies become available.

Windows remains the dominant platform for gaming, with an overwhelming 96.10% share on Steam. Linux and macOS trail behind, holding 2.33% and 1.58% of the market, respectively. Among hardware preferences, the Nvidia RTX 3060 remains the most popular graphics card, followed by the RTX 4060 and its laptop variant.

What do you think about these stats? Are you still using Windows 10, or have you migrated to a newer version?
