Windows 11 KB5070311 Reportedly Resolves AMD GPU Driver Crashes in Games

Windows 11 gamers have faced widespread graphics card problems in recent weeks, with many users blaming the October update for sudden GPU driver crashes, freezes, and system hangs during gameplay. The issues affected several modern titles and were especially disruptive for players using newer graphics hardware.

KB5070311 Update Has Fixed AMD Issues For Many

Community reports now suggest that the Windows update KB5070311 may finally be addressing these problems. Gamers claim that GPU crashing and hanging have been reduced in games such as Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Most of the positive feedback comes from owners of AMD RX 9000 series graphics cards, though some RX 7000 series users report similar improvements.

Microsoft and AMD have not officially confirmed that KB5070311 includes fixes for gaming-related GPU issues. However, the update does include one confirmed change: Windows no longer displays an “unsupported graphics card detected” warning when a supported GPU is installed. While not described as a stability fix, this change loosely aligns with reports of improved GPU behavior.

Driver updates may also be playing a role. AMD’s Adrenalin 25.12.1 release lists fixes for several application and driver crashes, though only a limited number of issues are officially marked as resolved. NVIDIA users have faced similar problems, prompting the company to release a hotfix driver that reportedly restored up to 50 percent performance in affected games.

KB5070311 is a non-optional update and will install automatically, and early feedback suggests it may finally bring improved stability for Windows 11 gamers.
