Windows 11 KB5079464 Dev Update Improves Microsoft 365 Account Settings
Microsoft is releasing a new update for Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev Channel. Identified as KB5079464, this build introduces a variety of adjustments across the operating system. The changes cover everything from updated Microsoft 365 subscription settings and initial setup options to stricter kernel security and minor visual tweaks.
It brings better Microsoft 365 account settings
Managing your personal Microsoft subscriptions usually requires opening a web browser and navigating through account portals. With the release of Build 26300.8068 in the Dev Channel, Microsoft is bringing that control directly to your local system.
Microsoft 365 Family subscribers will now see a dedicated option to upgrade their plan right on the Accounts page inside the Settings app. What this really means is you get faster access to your subscription details without leaving the native Windows environment.
If you prefer a clean interface without promotional prompts, you can simply remove the upgrade option by turning off suggested content in your settings. It’s worth mentioning that this feature isn’t available in the Windows 11 Beta update KB5079458, which was also released today.
Talking about the new Insider updates, Microsoft has also released the Windows 11 KB5079458 beta update. It enforces a stricter driver policy and updates for the point-in-time restore tool. There are also a couple of Windows 11 Canary updates dubbed KB5079452 and KB5077240.
The former brings pen setting improvements, while the latter adds a built-in network test tool. Furthermore, a separate Canary Build 29550.1000 brings new Emojis, camera features, and better Settings, among other things.
