Microsoft has updated the changelog for Windows 11 KB5095093 with new details about fixes that were not listed when the update first launched.

KB5095093 is a C-release update for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. While the update already included several known improvements, Microsoft has now confirmed additional fixes, including a File Explorer responsiveness improvement and a storage-related bug fix.

File Explorer Gets Faster When Mounting Disk Images

One of the newly confirmed changes affects File Explorer.

Microsoft says File Explorer should become more responsive when users mount disk images. This should help users who regularly open ISO or other disk image files directly in Windows 11.

However, this improvement has a catch. Microsoft says it is rolling out gradually, which means not every user will see the change immediately after installing KB5095093.

KB5095093 Fixes Capability Access Manager Storage Problem

The more important fix targets a storage issue linked to Capability Access Manager.

Some Windows 11 users had reported that the CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal file was consuming unusually large amounts of disk space. In one case, a user claimed the related service had taken up around 70GB of additional storage.

The issue gained attention on Microsoft’s support forums and across the web, as affected users struggled to understand why their system drive was losing so much free space.

Microsoft has now updated the KB5095093 changelog to confirm that the update improves disk space usage for the CapabilityAccessManager.db-wal file.

Unlike the File Explorer improvement, this fix is not part of a gradual rollout. Installing KB5095093 should resolve the disk space problem for affected Windows 11 users.

KB5095093 also includes another useful fix for Windows 11 users who rely on GIFs in the Emoji panel.

Microsoft confirmed that it fixed GIF search and loading problems in the panel. The issue appeared after Tenor retired its API, which caused Windows 11’s GIF feature to show errors or stop loading results properly.

Windows 11 now uses a different GIF provider, and the update should restore GIF functionality for affected users.

In other Microsoft news, the company has also launched WSL Containers in public preview.
