Windows 365 users will soon be able to use a password called a “passkey” on their Android devices. The new enhancement was announced in a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

These passkeys are part of a security standard called FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online 2). FIDO2 is a set of authentication protocols that aim to provide stronger security than traditional passwords.

Users can authenticate instead of entering a password using methods like biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) or a physical security key.

When it becomes generally available (GA), this new feature will be aligned with the Windows App on Android.

This means that once the Windows App on Android is officially released and available to all users, the passkey functionality will work seamlessly with it.

Here’s what the entry says:

This allows Windows 365 users to use passkeys (FIDO2) on Android. This feature will align with Windows App on Android GA.

This integration will make it easier and more secure for Windows 365 users to access their accounts and services on Android devices.

The new enhancement will be released on Android devices starting April 2025.

Speaking of Windows 365, the app will allow users to return to the local PC with a simple command. The feature will be released in March.
