Windows share my phone

Ever been in a tricky situation where you had to send a file from your PC to an Android phone and then back again? It’s like attempting the impossible, similar to threading a needle with eyes covered.

However, soon enough, Microsoft will work on something in its tech lab that may solve this issue.

They have dropped a fresh feature for those fortunate ducks in the Windows Insiders program. This one simplifies file sharing between your Windows PC and Android phone. Now, sharing content is as simple as eating a pie.

Picture this scenario: You have completed all the details of a presentation on your PC and are required to move it onto your phone. The purpose is for you to study it once again during your travel. Microsoft has assisted by adding a fresh My Phone icon in the Windows Share menu.

We are rolling out the ability to easily share content to an Android device from Windows share window. The feature requires you to pair your Android device to your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on Android and Phone Link on your PC.

Your file is sent to an Android gadget with just one touch. You won’t have to email it to yourself or deal with pesky cables.

But hold on—there is a condition—your devices must be able to talk to each other initially. You will need to match up your phone and PC by using the Link for Windows application on Android and the Phone Link feature on your PC.

Once they become close friends, whenever you want to share something, the “My Phone” icon will appear. It’s like magic, but better because it’s technology.

This feature is only available to beta testers who updated to KB5039319, so it will be generally released shortly.

Additionally, this update does not have limited abilities. It also delivers treats such as jump lists for pinned apps and enhanced handling of images from Windows Spotlight.

In the big picture view, Microsoft is not only giving a little treat. They are solving a genuine problem for many people like us who handle content on different devices.

Even though Google’s Quick Share feature has been helpful, how Microsoft incorporates it into the Windows environment might change everything.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Phone Link, which enables the My Phone feature, currently uses many CPU resources. Dozens of Windows 11 users have noticed it, and the Redmond-based tech giant has acknowledged it, too, and it’s working on a solution.

Aside from the bug, the My Phone improvement brings much-needed relief for people like me who have wasted many minutes attempting to move files between gadgets. Now, if only all tech updates could make our day-to-day tasks this much easier.
