How to Solve Error 80246007 When Updating Windows Store

Error 80246007 is usually related with downloading updates, but some people have been getting it while updating apps from Windows 10 store, but there are few solutions that might help you out.

Solution 1 – Restart Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Event Log

  1. Go to Control Panel and type administrative tools in the search box and choose Administrative Tools.
  2. Double click Services. You might be asked to enter your administrator password.
  3. Find Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) service, right click it and choose Properties.

  5. Find Service status and check if the service is started, if not click Start.
  6. Click OK and close the Properties dialog box.
  7. Right click Windows Event Log service and choose Properties.

Solution 2 – Use PowerShell to reinstall the apps

  1. Type PowerShell into the search bar, right click it and choose Run as administrator.
    Enter

    • Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
  2. Now reinstall the apps from the store.

Solution 3 – Change the registry

Before modifying registry you should know that if you modify it incorrectly you can cause some issues, so be careful and you can also create a backup of your registry just in case. To fix update error do the following:

  1. Open Registry editor by typing regedit in the search bar.
  2. On the right side you need to locate the following key:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade]
  3. If this key doesn’t exist, create it.
  4. Now you need to create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with Name = AllowOSUpgrade and set the Value = 0x00000001.
  5. Once this key is added you can update your Windows access store and update your apps.
