KB5053661

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5025 (KB5053661) to the Beta Channel. This latest build introduces new features, improvements, and fixes to enhance the user experience.

One of the standout features in this build is the introduction of “Recommended files” in File Explorer. This new section, available to all Windows Insiders signed in with their personal Microsoft account, provides quick access to relevant files based on user activity.

The Recommended section is displayed as a carousel with thumbnail previews, showcasing frequently used files, recent downloads, and newly added content to the File Explorer Gallery. Users with work or school accounts will have additional types of recommendations available. However, this change is not yet rolling out in the European Economic Area (EEA).

Another notable update is adding a new feature to the Start menu. This feature recommends a snap group based on two apps most likely to be snapped together. It aims to improve productivity by suggesting app combinations that users frequently use together.

The build also includes several fixes, such as resolving an issue that caused File Explorer to close very slowly for some Insiders using the X button. Additionally, improvements have been made to support web search providers in Windows Search for users in the EEA, enhancing discoverability.

Despite these enhancements, this build still has some known issues. For instance, after installing an app, there may be a delay in app icons showing in grid and category views on the All Apps page in the Start menu.

Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback on issues through the Feedback Hub.

The Redmond-based tech giant also introduced an updated Microsoft Store to all Insiders enlisted in the Canary channel.
