Xbox Achievements Update Brings Fresh Look and Better Tracking Tools
Microsoft is finally giving some attention to its achievement system. The company just started testing a wave of long-awaited updates for Xbox players. This rollout brings fresh visuals and much-needed organization tools to the dashboard. The company wants to give you better ways to manage your gaming history and highlight your biggest wins.
Right now, these changes are only available to players in the Insider program, but the updates point to a better setup coming soon for everyone else.
New animations and custom colors refresh how notifications look
First up, the actual pop-ups are getting a makeover. When you unlock an achievement, the notification will look a bit different on screen. It includes updated icons and new animations for both classic and rare unlocks. The notifications will also match the custom color you picked for your profile. It is a small visual change, but it helps make the dashboard feel more personal to your specific account.
Hiding unwanted games from your profile without losing points
This is arguably the most requested feature from the community. Later this month, Xbox will let you hide specific games from your achievement history. If you started a game, earned two points, and never played it again, you can finally scrub it from your public list.
Hiding a game does not delete your progress. The points still count toward your total Gamerscore, and the console continues to track your background activity. It just cleans up the public-facing profile so you only show off the titles you actually care about.
Highlighting the games where you unlocked every single point
If you put in the time to earn every single point in a game, Microsoft wants to make that effort visible. Games with full 100 percent completion will now be highlighted in your list. You do not have to dig around to see your best work anymore. The company also added new filters to this menu. You can easily sort through your fully completed games and manage the titles you decided to hide.
Testing with insiders first before releasing to everyone else
Right now, this is just a test for select Xbox Insiders. Microsoft says this is only the first step in a larger plan to improve the achievement system. The company plans to add more features over time to recognize player milestones.
If you want to try these tools early, you can join the Insider program through the console hub. Otherwise, expect the final version to roll out to all users in the coming months.
