Xbox Employees to Reportedly Get Xbox Email Addresses from Microsoft Next Month
Microsoft is reportedly giving Xbox employees an Xbox email address as part of a renewed internal branding push announced last week by Asha Sharma and Matt Booty. As part of the major Xbox reset plan, the new CEO scrapped the Microsoft Gaming identity. That means Microsoft’s gaming division will now be only called “Xbox,” like it used to be in the old days.
Microsoft is reportedly giving Xbox employees @xbox.com emails as part of internal branding pivot
It seems the “We are Xbox” tagline is being taken seriously, as Tom Warren from The Verge reports that Microsoft be handing Xbox employees an @xbox.com email address next month. This will reportedly replace the @microsoft.com address as the default send-from identity. However, employees can still opt out and continue using their Microsoft email as the default.
Per the report, Mojang employees will also get an @mojang.com email address, while still retaining their Microsoft email address. The planned changes were detailed in internal Xbox communications seen by The Verge, which talk about strengthening the Xbox identity both inside and outside Microsoft. At a time when Microsoft’s gaming divisions span multiple studios and brands, the change appears aimed at presenting a more unified front.
Other Xbox-linked studios like Activision and Bethesda already use their own domain names, so this move brings Microsoft’s internal structure closer in line with that approach. Some employees had previously been able to request Xbox email addresses, but this is the first company-wide rollout.
Ever since Asha Sharma assumed the role of Xbox CEO, the chatter around the platform has grown in the online space. These days, fans are often seen tagging Xbox executives, especially CEO Asha Sharma, to directly convey feedback and requests. Sharma, doing her part, has been quite responsive on multiple occasions. Earlier this week, the CEO also confirmed that Xbox is working on a dynamic background for the new logo in response to a fan request.
