Xbox February Update Fixes Remote Play Issues Linked to 720p Settings
At a time when remote play and cloud gaming are becoming more popular in the Xbox ecosystem, even small issues can frustrate longtime players. Microsoft is well aware of that and has released the February 2026 Xbox firmware update to fix some known issues (via MP1st).
The new OS version is 10.0.26100.6985 (xb_flt_2602ge.260121-2200), and it fixes remote play issues that players reported lately. For those unaware, a specific bug was affecting some users, preventing them from using remote play whenever their console display settings were set to 720p.
Besides fixing remote play issues, the latest Xbox update includes general stability and performance improvements to keep things running smoothly across Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.
Just to be clear, this update doesn’t include any features; it’s more of a maintenance release, focused on fixing specific pain points. So, if you were affected by the remote play issue, you must install the latest firmware update.
Speaking of system updates, Microsoft has kept a steady cadence of firmware updates in recent months, although much of its attention has now shifted toward Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming. It’s unclear when the next major Xbox firmware update will arrive, where we might get to see some new features.
In other news, Microsoft is also testing postgame recaps in the Xbox PC app with Insiders. The new feature provides a visual, interactive breakdown once a gaming session wraps up. Notably, postgame recaps can include screenshots, captured videos, unlocked achievements, total playtime, and key in-game moments.
