Xbox Mode Rolls Out to Windows 11 PCs Today in Select Markets
As promised earlier this year, Microsoft has started rolling out Xbox Mode (FKA Full Screen Experience) on Windows 11 PCs, marking a new step towards console-style gaming with traditional PC flexibility. The rollout starts in select markets today across devices ranging from laptops and desktops to tablets, with a wider release expected over the coming weeks.
Console-inspired experience comes to Windows 11 PCs
Xbox Mode is designed to shift Windows 11 into a more focused, controller-friendly gaming environment. It takes clear inspiration from the Xbox console interface, prioritizing games over background apps and system distractions. Players can browse, launch, and return to titles using a full-screen layout optimized for controllers.
The experience also includes an aggregated game library, pulling in installed titles from multiple PC storefronts along with Xbox Game Pass access. Microsoft says the idea is to make switching between Xbox Mode and the traditional Windows desktop seamless, depending on how players want to use their device.
Since its earlier iteration on handhelds, the feature has reportedly evolved based on user feedback, shaping how it now works across broader PC hardware.
If you happen to be in the region where Xbox Mode is first rolling out today, all you need is to make sure that your Windows 11 PC is set to receive the latest Windows update. To do that, go to Settings > Windows Update > Turn on “Get the latest updates as soon as they are available” option. That’s all, and you are sorted jump into Xbox mode directly from your PC and start playing. As a reminder, Xbox has announced a bunch of updates for the latest handhelds.
