xbox series s development

Microsoft has just announced big news for Xbox, last week. No less than 5000 new games are in development for Xbox, a record in the console’s history. Game Pass is also coming to NVIDIA GeForce Now, allowing you to play the games on any device the platform is streaming to.

All these updates focus on Xbox Series S and X, two of Microsoft’s latest Xbox consoles, and there were rumors, of course, about the future generations of Xbox. Considering Starfield and a lot of other exciting games are coming to Xbox, users have started to ask if Series S is coming to an end.

Starfield, especially, has some decent system requirements, so it will run on Xbox Series S, but what about the future?

As you know, Xbox Series S focuses on casual gamers, so the console it’s not as buffed up as Series X, which is designed for hardcore gamers. This leaves many users asking if the Series S is coming to an end. But according to this Reddit thread, there is a very strong reason why Microsoft won’t abandon Series S.

The reason Microsoft won’t end support for Xbox Series S

Microsoft announced that the Black Xbox Series S is coming very soon and with an upgrade: you will now have 1TB of storage for your video games and media files.

This announcement prompted Xbox users to think that the support for Xbox Series S will never end as long as the current-generation cycle is still going on.

In other words, as long as Xbox Series X will receive support, then so will Xbox Series S. But it would seem absurd to invest so much money into making a console for casual players, and then not supporting it.

Plus, if Microsoft would end support for Xbox Series S, then a lot of people who purchased the Xbox Series S will be left with an unusable console in a very short time. This would anger Xbox’s audience, and Microsoft will most likely experience a downfall.

However, even if Microsoft won’t end support for Xbox Series S, most likely the current generation will end soon. There is a shortage of computer chips, which made some users think this is the reason why this generation will be shorter.
