With Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the rear view, Adobe is taking stock of the hot-ticket items from the holiday shopping weekend and it looks like the Xbox Series X was among the top five “hot products” sold.

While the methodology for defining what a “hot product” consists of isn’t made clear from Adobe’s report, the company did mention last year that it analyzes data from over 1 trillion retail visits to sites as well surveying over 1,000 retailers regarding their most sought-after products to determine top selling items during Black Friday.

This year, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X joined the ranks of items related to Disney’s Plus’ Bluey show, drones, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and MacBook’s, while last year, the Series S topped Adobe’s list.

Interestingly enough, it seemed Microsoft was geared to sell more of the Series S this holiday shopping weekend after reading its own financial telemetry as it discounted the console by a minimum of $50 across the board in the US and £60 in the UK. Meanwhile, the Series X remained relatively unchanged in price with a few vendors offering gaming bundles and accessory discounts to offset the unmoved price of the console.

Anecdotally, I replaced my aging Xbox One with a Series S over the weekend because it was both readily available and at an easier to ingest price point.

It’ll be interesting to see how this holiday season fares for Microsoft’s Xbox hardware revenue despite the lack of exclusive content and in the face of its cloud gaming pursuits.
