Everyone seems to be racing into AI-powered search. While Apple works on turning Siri into a chat-style assistant, Yahoo has now entered the space with its own solution.

Yahoo Scout brings AI answers across the Yahoo ecosystem

Yahoo has officially launched Yahoo Scout, a proprietary AI-powered answer engine, now available in beta across Yahoo Search and the broader Yahoo ecosystem. The company says Scout is rolling out to nearly 250 million users in the U.S. on both desktop and mobile, covering almost its entire product portfolio.

Scout shifts search away from traditional blue links and toward direct, AI-generated answers, while also moving from keyword-based queries to natural language conversations. The system synthesizes information from the open web, Yahoo’s internal datasets, and Yahoo-owned content, blending generative AI with classic search signals.

According to Yahoo, Scout runs on a massive internal data stack that includes 500 million user profiles, a knowledge graph with over one billion entities, and roughly 18 trillion consumer events per year.

AI features expand across Mail, Finance, Sports, and Shopping

Alongside Scout, Yahoo announced the Yahoo Scout Intelligence Platform, which integrates AI features across Mail, News, Finance, Sports, and other services.

New capabilities include Yahoo Shopping, which delivers instant product research, comparisons, expert analysis, and shoppable links. In Yahoo Finance, Scout now provides real-time market insights, earnings breakdowns, analyst ratings, and stock movement explanations, refreshing every ten minutes.

Yahoo also introduced More from Yahoo Scout, which turns financial news into interactive research experiences with AI-driven follow-up questions and deeper market context. Another feature, Comment Summaries, highlights key discussion themes and public sentiment inside popular Yahoo articles.

Anthropic and Microsoft power Yahoo’s AI strategy

Yahoo confirmed a major AI partnership with Anthropic, using Claude as the primary foundational model behind Yahoo Scout. The company is also working with Microsoft, leveraging Bing’s grounding API and joining Microsoft’s Publisher Content Marketplace pilot to support trusted sourcing and publisher monetization.

Yahoo says Scout will continue to evolve with deeper personalization, expanded vertical features, and new generative AI advertising models.

Yahoo Scout is available now in beta at Scout.Yahoo.com and through the Yahoo Search app on iOS and Android.

In other AI news, Google has added Gemini Personal Intelligence to AI Search and now lets users jump from AI Overviews into AI Mode to ask follow-up questions.
