Are you a fan of Yammer? Well, if not, you soon might be thanks to Microsoft activating Yammer for eligible Office 365 tenants. More precisely, every new or existing eligible Office 365 tenant will gain access to Microsoft’s business-focused social networking application “without requiring additional action on the part of admins,” further solidifying the company’s efforts to deliver an all-in-one suite or productivity.
According to a recent announcement from Microsoft, the company sees the Yammer integration as a seamless value proposition that will help bind the various Office 365 group services while delivering better cross-suite collaborations and results.
Making Yammer available in Office 365 is key to unlocking new experiences for users that span their productivity apps. As a case in point, Yammer will hook into the Office 365 Groups service in the first half of 2016 to deliver powerful cross-suite scenarios that let you escalate your Yammer conversation into a Skype call, schedule a meeting using Outlook calendar, access your files in OneDrive, create tasks in Planner and more, all from your Yammer group.”
While the idea is to make the lives of admins regulating the functions of Office 365 easier, Microsoft is still empowering them with a robust set of management options for more granular Yammer deployment. Soon, admins will be able to take control of options such as identity, user and license management and offer controls to help admins keep up with the evolving regulatory standards of their businesses and areas.
Also accompanying the announcement of Yammer and Office, 365 integration is the news Yammer has also fallen under the cover of Office 365 Trust Center. The Office 365 Trust Center is a very technical regulated level of protection that ensures communication and data in regional and international areas are met. Microsoft has a more complicated way to describe Yammer’s new security and privacy accomplishment.
Yammer is now covered by the Office 365 Trust Center, which offers the protection of international and regional standards such as the Office 365 Data Processing Agreement with European Union Model Clauses (DPA with EUMC), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Office 365 Business Associate Agreement (HIPAA BAA), ISO 27001, ISO 27018, compliance with Section 508 for web accessibility and SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports.”
Yammer’s seamless integration with Office 365 starts February 1, 2016, and for more information, visit the Office Blogs to read a list of the “Frequently asked questions” about Yammer and Office 365.
