Do you remember when we told you you’ll soon be able to change the sound of your Microsoft Teams notifications? Maybe, for Microsoft Teams users on Windows and the web, your wish could now come true. Microsoft has finally launched a feature that allows users to adjust the sound of their notifications. This makes it possible to differentiate an urgent message from a normal ping even without looking. Just imagine—knowing what’s essential and what’s not only by the sound!
In a blog post, Microsoft says people using Teams Public Preview, trying out this feature is easy. You just need to click on three dots in Teams to find settings and go to the Notifications and Activity menu. Then, personalize your notification sounds with eight options for regular notifications and four more for urgent messages that require immediate attention.
But what if you are right there, deeply focused or in a meeting, and an important thing shows up? A checkbox for that permits sounds even when you’re set as busy or in a meeting. It’s similar to having your helper who understands precisely when to break your concentration and when to keep quiet.
This feature’s release is currently limited, though. To use it, you must either be part of the Teams Public Preview or a Microsoft 365 Targeted release user. And if you’re thinking about when it will be accessible for everyone or on other platforms, then you’ll have to wait until Microsoft announces the release of the feature there, as well.
To use this feature, you must be a member of the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release and use the new Teams client for Windows of web.  Â
