This is how you remove edit with paint

Recently, we reported by a new Edit with Paint feature in Windows 11 and other redundant options that are clittering File Explorer’s context menu. The new Edit with Paint option is right now available only for Insiders, but we expect it soon on the stable version. If Microsoft still pushes it forward, you should know that you can remove it easily.

How do I remove Edit with Paint from the context menu?

The solution to remove Edit with Paint option from File Explorer’s context menu is not that simple because it involves editing the Registry and adding a new value.

So, you need to open Registry Editor and go to the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions.

Here, create a new key and name it Blocked, then add the String value {2430F218-B743-4FD6-97BF-5C76541B4AE9} inside. The change will take effect instantly and the right-click context menu should not include the Edit with Paint option when you right-click an image.

If these instructions are hard to follow, we also created a guide on how to remove Edit with Paint from Windows 11 that provides full step-by-step instructions.

You already have the Open with option in the right-click context menu, so Edit with Paint not only that it doesn’t make sense, but it also clutters the already full menu.

If you’re an Insider, you will also probably see the Edit in Notepad when right-clicking an image which is even weirder. But that’s another story for another time.
