Google recently announced a bunch of new features coming to YouTube, including animated buttons, faster playback speed, a lock screen when watching YouTube videos, and many more. These features will greatly improve the experience of using YouTube and creating video content on the platform, according to Google.

However, it seems that the tech giant is not stopping here. According to the latest entry in their feature and experiments blog, YouTube will be releasing an experimental feature which will allow users to pause comments on their videos.

YouTube creators will be able to turn this option on to prevent subscribers or other YouTube users to leave comments on their videos. The feature will be released to a limited set of YouTube channels, as it might be unstable.

YouTube’s pause comments feature: How does it work?

YouTube creators will see the new option to select pause in their videos’ comments settings. To access the new option, users will have to go the Watch page in the YouTube app, if they’re on their mobile devices, or YouTube Studio, on desktop devices.

There will be a new way of managing and organizing comments on YouTube videos: users will have to choose from 3 categories:

  • On
  • Pause
  • Off

Comment moderation will have additional settings that users can choose and customize. When the option is enabled on a YouTube video, viewers will be able to see the phrase – Comments are paused.youtube pause comments

We’re experimenting with a new comment moderation setting called “Pause” that allows creators to prevent the creation of new comments at the video level, while preserving comments that were already published.

This is an experimental feature, and it might not make it to YouTube, as it is now, and most probably it will be released with an updated form. However, if released, it might greatly improve YouTubers’ control over the management of their videos.
