hsapi.dll

The HSAPI.dll is linked to several programs and games and is critical to their effective functioning. When the DLL is missing or corrupted, you get an error message that reads, Failed to load DLL: HSAPI.

The storage path of the DLL differs depending on the program that added it to your PC. However, the file is not stored in the System32 folder, clearly indicating that it’s a non-Microsoft DLL.

Before you proceed to the solutions, restart the PC, install all pending updates for Windows and the affected app, and uninstall any recently added programs!

What can I do when HSAPI.dll is missing or not found?

1. Use a DLL repair tool

Your primary approach when HSAPI.dll is missing or fails to load in Windows should be to use a top-rated DLL repair tool.

These will automatically scan and identify any missing or corrupted DLL files and replace them with a fresh copy. It’s critical to use a reliable tool, or you might end up harming the PC.

      2. Reinstall the affected program

      1. Press Windows + R to open Run, type appwiz.cpl in the text field, and hit Enter.
      2. Select the app throwing the missing DLL error and click on Uninstall.reinstall app to fix missing hsapi.dll
      3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process and then restart the PC.
      4. Finally, download and install the program all over again from the official website.

Programs that need HSAPI.dll usually come bundled with it, and if the DLL is not found, it’s likely that the initial installation didn’t go through successfully. So, you must reinstall the program.

If a quick removal doesn’t work, you can always use an effective software uninstaller to wipe all traces of the previous installation before proceeding to reinstall.

      3. Run a malware scan

      1. Press Windows + S to open Search, type Windows Security in the text field, and click on the relevant result.
      2. Click on Virus & threat protection.windows security
      3. Click on Scan options.
      4. Now, select the Full scan entry and then click on Scan now.malware scan to fix hsapi.dll
      5. Wait for the malware scan to complete. It generally takes 15-30 minutes.

Remember, a malware scan won’t restore the missing HSAPI.dll but will remove any malware or viruses that are preventing the DLL from loading. If Windows Security can’t detect any threats, I recommend using a secure antivirus solution to run a more advanced scan!

      4. Perform a system restore

      1. Press Windows + R to open Run, type rstrui.exe in the text field, and hit Enter.
      2. Select the Choose a different restore point option, if available, and click Next.system restore to fix hsapi.dll
      3. Pick the oldest restore point from the list or one created before the issue first appeared, and click Next. restore
      4. Verify the restore details, click Finish, and confirm the change.

The system restore will take 15-45 minutes and revert all recent changes on the PC, including the one triggering HSAPI.dll errors. In case things don’t go as planned, you can always undo a system restore.

Before you leave, discover why DLLs go missing and the most effective solutions to prevent such errors from reappearing!
