KB5053643

Microsoft has released the KB5053643 patch to Windows 10 Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The update is not big, but it brings many improvements to the 10-year-old operating system.

For starters, the update provides Noto CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) fonts in Windows, improving text support for these languages and making writing easier.

The Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles have been updated to improve compatibility and performance with mobile operators.

With KB5053643, a fix has been implemented to address an issue where thumbnails in File Explorer may crash, resulting in white pages appearing instead of the actual thumbnail. The patch has also fixed printers using Independent Hardware Vendor (IHV) drivers that might unexpectedly output incorrect or unwanted text.

System processes can now store temporary files in a secure directory “C:\Windows\SystemTemp” by calling the GetTempPath2 API or using the.NET’s GetTempPath API, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

Certain Get-Help troubleshooters that might not run in a Remote Desktop session have been fixed.

The update introduces improved support in Windows Search for the European Economic Area (EEA), including increased discoverability.
