Xbox Free Play Days Brings Sherlock Holmes Chapter One & More This Weekend (Jan. 22-25)
It’s Thursday, which means Microsoft is back with another Xbox Free Play Days lineup for the weekend (from January 22 to January 25). If you are an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscriber, you can play Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, South Park: Snow Day, This War of Mine: Final Cut, and Cult of the Lamb for free this weekend.
Microsoft also notes that Sherlock Holmes Chapter One and This War of Mine: Final Cut are optimized for Xbox Series X|S, with the latter also supporting Xbox Play Anywhere. That means you can switch between console and PC without losing progress.
That’s not all; every title is also available with a limited-time discount during the Free Play Days event, letting you keep playing while retaining your Gamerscore and achievements once the trial ends.
Meanwhile, Cult of the Lamb is available as a free trial, offering access to its core experience alongside recent content additions, including co-op support. It’s a great pick if you want something easy to jump into between longer sessions.
You can check out the pricing for this weekend’s Xbox Free Play Days below:
- Sherlock Holmes Chapter One: $4.49 (usually $44.99)
- South Park: Snow Day: $13.49 (usually $29.99)
- This War of Mine: Final Cut: $1.99 (usually $19.99)
- Cult of the Lamb: $12.49 (usually $24.99)
As always, please note that discounts and availability may vary by region, so it’s best to check the store early. Also, don’t forget to check everything announced at the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 event earlier today. We got the very first deep dive into Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and Beast of Reincarnation. Well, the surprise fourth game everyone talked about was apparently Kiln, which combines pottery, mythology, and team combat in a new party brawler.
